The World Cup Draw Is Official - The US Has No Excuses And It's Time To Hate England All Over Again

What a draw. All things considered this was about as good as we could ask for. Obviously Group A was the ideal scenario, but look at the group again. We open with Ukraine/Scotland/Wales and whoever wins that playoff path. We didn't get the Group of Death. We did get a familiar foe though.

Now comes the debate of who makes the roster. Let me tell you, it's a good problem to have! We have a bunch of options and depth. We have to decide on how to play the 9. Me personally? Give us the false 9. Give me a starting field of Dest, Zimmerman, Miles Robinson, Jedi Robinson, Tyler Adams, Musah, McKennie, Pulisic, Reyna and Weah. That's it. Those are my guys I want to go to Qatar with starting. We can debate everything else and who to add, but that's what I want to roll with. Obviously if you want more of a traditional 9 and someone who can hold up the ball you can go with Pepi, etc. 

But now it comes down to the draw. Thats's the point of today. Again, you want Qatar and Group A. That's the weakest group. But think about what we have. We open with the playoff winner. We should be favored in that match. That's the one we need 3 points in. Then England. That's the one all eyes are on and I actually like that being the second match. It lets us know that a tie there isn't the end of the world. It also gives us Iran last. That's a game we should be favored in again. We can start looking at goal differential, etc. That's the plan. 

But now it's real. The World Cup is in November but we know our draw. We know our path. There is no excuse to not get out of this group. We have a real, real chance to advance. Fire it up.
