Pete Rose. "Shoeless" Joe. The Steroid Era. The Astros banging on trashcans, drumming on street lights. All of these black marks against America's pastime pale in comparison to the deep secrets Rob Manfred and Joe Torre have allegedly colluded to keep secret for nearly a decade. Until now.
(NJ) - An appeals court ruled that a letter that allegedly shows that MLB hid a Yankees sign-stealing scheme should be unsealed.
The letter allegedly proves that the Yankees did more than simply improperly using a dugout phone in 2015.
The letter, which was from Commissioner Rob Manfred to Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, was actually related to the Apple Watch fiasco between the Yankees and Red Sox in 2015, team president Randy Levine said when arguing against the release of the letter Dec. 14, 2020. At the time, the league fined Boston for illegally using the watch to relay signs to players, it said in a press release. The Yankees were levied a smaller fine for improper use of a dugout phone in a prior season.
This is what I've loved about the hypocrisy surrounding the collective crying about the Astros scandal. It was spearheaded by Yankees players and fans. Anything with those pinstripe loving fucks at the helm I'm immediately on the other side, I don't care what it is. These are people who are not sound of mind and thus cannot be trusted to make rash nor reasonable decisions. They thought Bryce Harper and Manny Machado were going to sign with them. They thought Corey Seager and Freddie Freeman were going to sign with them. They signed Gerrit Cole and then pretended his entire career wasn't built off of the same cheating they claim to despise. The clandestine sheen of morality they've spray painted themselves with like war boys in Mad Max prepping for Valhalla has worn off, uncovering a disgusting, shameful underbelly of corruption and chicanery.
Unseal the letter! Release the tapes! Let the world know of all the heinous crimes the Yankees committed seven years ago! Randy Levine knows these skeletons must stay in the closet, that's why he's arguing so hard to keep these documents locked away. Everyone is guilty, everyone is a suspect, and no one with a clean-shaven face is to be trusted.
