Hello My Name Is Carl And I Want To Dramatically Overreact To Zach LaVine's Snoop Dogg Tweet
If this blog seems vague and cryptic it's because we're in vague and cryptic times. LaVine's missed 9 of the Bulls last 15 games with an undiagnosed knee injury otherwise known as stiffness. Good problem for your dick, bad problem for our all star guard's knee. Here's what we know:
LaVine wants to do the 3-pt contest - okay fine if his knee can handle it. I see no problem bouncing around and soaking up the weekend festivities. He's earned it and it's been a long journey to get here, ironically riddled with injuries. If it's just routine stiffness and he's rested, no problem with the 3-pt contest in my book.
LaVine wants to play in the ASG - probably not on my watch if I'm calling the shots. Not when there's momentum and rest sounds like it would go a long way and we need as much home court advantage as we can get come playoffs. Basically all the common sense reasons you DONT play in this game are running rampant right now. Stretch out your hands and grab any one of them and that's enough to stay home for the weekend. Unless of course the knee is completely fine? I don't know. This section is titled Here's what we know and I'd like to stick to facts.
LaVine recently went to LA to see a specialist - good news just because I don't want to the Bulls medical staff to render any unilateral judgments here. That's the jaded cynic in me and I'm not the only Bulls fan with PTSD about our doctors.
Snoop Dog was in the news for smoking weed before the Super Bowl - LaVine tweeted that after midnight. That's a popular time to be high. Maybe he was just paying homage, that's just being honest.
That's the extent of what we know. Now it's time to speculate.
I think LaVine really really wants to play in the ASG and he's willing to sit a couple games to rest up to ensure that happens. I could call that selfish if it were true, but I don't want to. He's been on the ground floor of some awful seasons and I think it's only fair to see this as a monumental step in his career. I think he deserves every right to be out there even at the expense of missing a couple mid February games. Ultimately he's going to be one of the two guys we're counting on to carry us in the playoffs and I feel like making a concession here builds the kind of goodwill that bonds a man to his organization. Maybe I'm wrong. Time will tell but I think it's a good move if that's the underlying agenda.
Alternatively, maybe he's just pumped he got good news and he wanted to be relevant with a Snoop Dogg gif. Either way he has our attention and more importantly our undivided support. Provided he doesn't get hurt in Cleveland. Then I'll be pissed.
