Obviously Ben Simmons has reached a point in his career where he doesn't feel things are going to work out in the long term with the Philadelphia 76ers men's professional basketball team. An unfortunate turn of events, sure. But that's just the way she goes, boys. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't. And clearly Ben Simmons and the Sixers aren't a match that was made to last forever.
So who are the Sixers to force Ben Simmons to stay in this situation that he's not comfortable in? Who are the Sixers to rob Ben Simmons of the ability to at least be a serviceable role player someplace else? Even if that means sending Ben Simmons to your most despised rival in the league, the Sixers owe it to Ben Simmons to give him a fresh start.
If that means sending Ben Simmons to the Boston Celtics, then so be it. If they want to send Jaylen Brown back in exchange, that seems more than reasonable to me. If they want to send Jayson Tatum to Philly for Simmons, that also works as well. All I'm saying is that Ben Simmons deserves a fresh start, and the Celtics would only be so kind to provide one for him. So do the deal, Daryl. Do the deal right now. Heck, I'll go over to Simmo The Savage's house right now and help him pack. I'll even drive him halfway to Boston myself. I won't go the full way because have you seen gas prices lately? Sheeeesh.
Ben Simmons and the Boston Celtics would be a perfect fit. They deserve each other. They need each other. And I wouldn't expect Shams to put out a report like this if he didn't truly believe a deal between the two was imminent.
Credit to Daryl Morey and the Sixers organization for having the ability to find it in their heart to facilitate a deal like this regardless of how difficult it must be to work with their rivals.
