The Browns Get A Big Road Win Despite Baker Mayfield Not Being Able To Throw It Into The Ocean From A Boat

Well that was perhaps the most boring football game in the history of the sport. Over/Under of 51.5 and these two high-flying, electric offenses combined for a grand total of 21 points. And it wasn't because the defenses were dominating, at least not against the Browns. Baker Mayfield played terrible. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. A nice mixture of overthrows and underthrows to keep everyone on their toes though. Hitting the defenders in the back more than his own receivers. And for about the 4th time this season, I have once again flip-flopped on if we should pay him $40 million a year like he's going to ask for. I am OUT on paying him Josh Allen money, because he is NOT Josh Allen.

15 for 33, 155 yards, and 0 TD. 59 QBR

Wasn't being pressured. Wasn't running for his life. Just couldn't make the throws when they were right there in front of him, including the ball to a wide open OBJ that would've iced the game and then some.

Franchise quarterbacks have to make that throw. High school quarterbacks have to make that throw. Hell, peewee quarterbacks have to make that throw. And that wasn't the only one, nor his worst one of the day. The fact of the matter is that we didn't win because of Baker Mayfield this afternoon. We won in spite of Baker Mayfield this afternoon. 15 for 33, 155 yards, and 0 TD. 59 QBR.  You're telling me Case Keenum can't do that for $8 million a year? And then we can spread out the remaining $32 million to make sure our roster continues to have elite players at all other positions. Because that's what we have right now. A QB that's only taking a $10 million cap hit, and then a loaded plethora of skill players, linemen, and a much improved defense that is playing very well right now.

Last week the story was that the Bears offense and coaching was terrible (it was), but we just did that against the Vikings, who came into this week as the 3rd ranked offense in the league. The past two weeks, our defense has played championship level football. And like always, so did our running backs. Another 100 yards for Chubb, and 69 more for Hunt. Nice. And how about our kicker?? My God is it nice to have someone that can make a 53 yarder in an important moment of the game. You know what, the more I think about it, the more I realize that we played a complete football game today except for the fact that our quarterback couldn't get the ball to our weapons downfield. That needs to change. OBJ should be pissed at Baker after this one. He missed him time and time again, and this game could've been a blowout, not a 14-7 victory.

But it appears Coach Stefanski is going to pretend that's not the case….

NAH. I like that my coach has our QBs back, but NAH. Anyone that watched that game knows that's bullshit. Baker played perhaps the worst game of his career.

Listen, I know I'm hating big time, but I'm not out on Baker Mayfield leading this team. What I am out on the idea of acting like he is a top 5 quarterback in the NFL or that he should be paid anywhere close to one.

WITH THAT BEING SAID, we are 3-1 for the second year in a row. Oh how the times have changed. For 20 years, we'd be basically out of playoff contention by now. And now I'm complaining about winning ugly? About winning ugly on the road? Maybe I need to chill a little bit, but anyone with eyes that watched that game saw that Baker Mayfield needs to get his shit together. This team has the makings for a very, very special postseason run if we can hit open receivers. Not the biggest ask of an NFL quarterback.

Alright, we are on to Los Angeles. And we're scoreboard watching too….because we are tied for first in the AFC North with…..the Bengals?
