Cancer Survivor Jon Thomson Aces The 16th Hole And Ensures Himself A Weekend Tee Time At The Open Championship

This is friggin AWESOME. In case you missed it, I blogged about Big Jon and his story yesterday morning (at 4:41 AM, nbd). Guy became the tallest golfer in PGA Tour history when he teed it up this week and battled leukemia for FOUR YEARS during his childhood. Like right in the sweet spot of his childhood from ages 7 to 11, the kid was duking it out with cancer. The story of him playing in this tournament was incredible in itself. He started +4 thru 3 holes and it looked like that was going to be the extent of a great story.

Nope. Guy turned it on yesterday on the back 9 to turn in a very respectable 71, and now he's got a memory he'll never forget. An ace in his home country at the Open Championship, and a spot in the weekend. 889th in the world, 6 foot fucking 9, cancer survivor... and playing for the Claret Jug.

Some things, man.
