Airlines Can't Stop People From Beating The Shit Out Of Each Other

“Unfortunately, we continue to see onboard behavior deteriorating into heinous acts, including assaults, threats and intimidation of crewmembers that directly interfere with the performance of crewmember duties and jeopardize the safety and security of everyone onboard the aircraft,” Airlines for America said.

The letter also requested that Dickson direct the FAA to begin referring cases to federal prosecutors, going beyond the fines and lifetime flying bans to actual criminal enforcement. Airlines for America also asked that Dickson amplify its “zero tolerance” message.

Rates airline/airport violence should be used as an indicator for the general overall health of the country. We have markers for the economy, physical fitness, consumer confidence, etc. We need to use airport/airplane assaults as an indication of how much everyone in the country fucking hates each other. Right now, it would appear that hating other people is at an all-time high. And by appear the article stated that there THREE THOUSAND reports of disruptive passengers. Masks-no masks, left-right, rich-poor, literally everyone is on edge and everyone seems to hate everyone else. Before it used to be a silent struggle over an armrest or maybe an eyeroll as someone had to make you get up to use the bathroom twice on a two hour flight. Now it's "put your mask on or I will break social distance rules to punch you in the face".

The airport is high stress as it is. You show up to the gate, they weigh your bag and try to charge you an extra $50. Then you have to go through security where you have to take off your close, take your computer out, hide your drugs even though it's just 3chi, then hustle through the terminal to get to the gate just to wait in line for the privilege of getting on a giant metal tube that has no reasonable business flying through the air, but you get on because you trust the magic that keeps the plane airborne. You add in a pandemic mask requirement and you're basically begging people to start fighting each other.

Airlines are asking for help. Heavier fines. Prosecution. Lifetime travel bans. Blah blah blah. I think that you gotta just give people options. Tell them that they can face jail time OR they can fight in the jetway on camera when the plane lands. Airlines are in international waters pretty much. It's too complicated to figure out who has jurisdiction. That in-flight map sucks. No way to tell which county you're over when the fight occurs. Turn first class into a RoughNRowdy fight. In-flight entertainment sucks. Everyone would tune into a scrap if they got the chance. Whoever wins the fight was right about whatever the argument was about and they should get a free flight. Sell the fights on ppv, get the airlines out of debt. Have our guy Steve Wilkos host it. No more airline debt. Everyone wins.
