Pop The Champagne, The Arizona Diamondbacks' 17-Game Losing Streak Is Over!

It's over! The Diamondbacks almost month long nightmare is over! Arizona's 5-1 win over the Brewers last night was their second win of the month and first since June 1st vs the Mets. Maybe the impressive thing about the Diamondbacks breaking this streak is the fact that they had almost 10,000 fans there, I'm happy they were able to watch the biggest 9th inning in Arizona history. Any way they could have lost a game during this losing streak they did. Lost in a blow out, lost in a close one, lost one after having a lead late, lost one after having a lead early, even lost one after they were up 7-0.  Had to be tough to watch if you're a fan but this is the win that makes it all worth it. They scored 3 in the second and 2 in the fourth and you know they were probably sweating bullets the last 5 innings to see if they could hold on or if they'd blow it again.

Some of the Diamondbacks numbers are mind blowing. They were 2 games above .500 after April but have only 7 wins since then, they've still lost 31 of their last 34 games, 40 of their last 46 games, and have lost 23 straight road games, an MLB record. It's been a bad few months for them but gotta give them credit for not folding every night. The streak lasted 20 days but I'm sure it seemed like 200. Every morning I'd wake up and search to see how the Diamondbacks lost the previous night because you knew it was some ridiculous way. Well that is over, it's all in the past. Who's to say they can't rip off 17 in a row? I just wish we were able to see their celebration in the locker room, had to be one for the ages. Rough night to be a Brewers fan too, tough to be that team that ends that losing streak. But I am looking forward to Arizona hanging their new banner. Next up on their checklist is to win a road game, lets see how long that streak goes.
