Joey Votto Stole Third Because Manny Machado Was Too Busy Doing The Wave With The Crowd

Think we have our newest example of Manny being Manny. Baseball games can be a little long, gotta stay fresh and try to have some fun during them. Manny Machado knows how to have fun and keep things playful, but Friday night I think he had too much fun on the field. Joey Votto on second in the top of the 4th when he noticed Manny peeking into the crowd. They're doing the wave and Manny wanted to join in on the fun. As he's staring at the crowd he throws his hands up to participate in the wave. Votto wasn't being held on, no one was checking him, they just flat out forgot he was there and takes off for third, no throw because Manny is just standing there. Doesn't move a muscle and Votto gets his stolen bag. Hell of a heads up play by Joey and a pretty big blunder by Manny. Votto is a guy who will pick up that stuff no problem, Manny is Manny. I love the guy but you've gotta pay attention, this is basically a kid on a little league team picking flowers during the game. I could actually see this happening in a little league game, just never thought it would be in a big league game. It didn't end up changing anything in the game because the Padres won 8-2 but at least Votto got his first stolen base of the year.
