The video and tweet says it all: tonight we're back to mashing lefties as the White Sox face LHP Robbie Ray and the Toronto Blue Jays. I am very confident in this bet - anyone who follows the White Sox knows that the ball really starts flying at Sox Park when the weather heats up, and look at what we have here:
It's hot, it's muggy, and there's heavy air. All of that equates to hot bats in Chicago, typically. Oh, and Abreu has a 150 wRC+, a .249 ISO and 51 career bombs against LHP and June is historically the month where he goes on his mid season tear.
It's in the stars, ladies and gentleman. I think. I don't want to get in trouble because I guaranteed something, but I'm feeling as good about this bet as I've felt about any of our Mash the Lefty bets this summer.
Ride with me. We're about +11 units on the year and I'm looking to make it +17 tonight. Robbie Ray is a solid enough pitcher, but the Sox destroy LHP and there are indicators that Ray is due for regression, the most blatant indicator being his ERA and FIP being separated by over a full run in the wrong direction.
Love love love this bet tonight. The weather is hot, Rodon is hot, the Sox bats are hot and I'm hot on calling who's going to go yard in Sox winners. Oh and the White Sox have the best record in all of baseball at home and the crowd is going to be loud, drunk, and raucous as fuck. Just ask White Sox analytics coordinator Shelley Duncan:
Let's fry. If you want to get in on the action and are located in IL, MI, PA and IN, join in on the fun and root for Abreu to hit a ball into the fundamentals deck with everyone who's been riding the bet thus far in 2021.
