We Get Another AWESOME Behind The Scenes Footage Of The Panthers - This Time It's Contract Negotiation With A Free Agent
Fuck yes. Give me all of these. Yesterday I blogged the behind the scenes footage of the draft when they flat out refused the Vikings offers to trade up.
And today we get their GM and salary cap manager negotiating with agent Erik Burkhardt, the agent for free agent tight end Dan Arnold. I can't get enough of these videos. The back and forth is fascinating as hell. I want nothing more than to sit in on these sort of things and see how it all develops. You heard Burkhardt trying to get money for his player, going off on stats and everything. The Panthers don't budge. What happens?
Burkhardt appears to win. Last time I checked $6 million is more than $4 million. The fact is we need more videos like this. What's the harm, especially after the fact? We know that Dan Arnold signed a deal with the Panthers now we see how it went down. Give me all this sort of content. I'm way more interested in this shit than almost anything else. Someone suggested a Hard Knocks but just for front office moves? Yes. Give me both. Give me regular hard knocks and nerd Hard Knocks.
What I really want to see is a big name free agent contract negotiation though. Sure, Dan Arnold is a nice player. He had more yards than Larry Fitzgerald! But give me a contract negotiation video of like JJ Watt to the Cardinals. Let me see the difference in how teams negotiate with a second tight end vs a bigger name. Let me see how an agent who represents both types of players talk on their behalf. Really just give me all these sorts of videos.
