We Have Reached The "James McCann Is Playing First Base And Hitting Third In The Lineup" Portion Of The 2021 Mets Season

You know what? I can't even get mad or sad or any sort of emotion about this Mets season anymore outside of impressed. I am honestly impressed that the Mets have reached a point of comical misfortunes this season that a guy whose only contribution this year has been with his defense is playing a position he has never played in the Majors AND batting third on what appears to be a split squad game in May.

This is by no means a criticism of the Mets or Luis Rojas either. When you have 16, say it again, SIXTEEN guys on the injured list including a good chunk of your starting position players, you have to do some funky things to make everything work. What am I going to complain about Brandon Drury not getting a turn at first against the Rockies tonight? No way. In the past, I would cuncel da saeson on those weird nights when a catcher was playing 2nd base, usually somehow against the Yankees before the Mets got their doors blown off. But I am going to continue to believe this team and this franchise are different mainly because of the guy who is signing the checks and oh yeah they are somehow in first place.

So best of luck tonight's to the Mets. I promise I won't expect more than three runs from you guys as long as you don't get mad if I feel like all hope is lost if you allow more than four. Deal? Deal!

P.S. Don't even THINK about it, Sandy.
