May Madness: Imagine Being An Idiot Who Willingly Missed Out On Three (3) Quarterfinal Overtime Games In The NCAA Lacrosse Tournament This Weekend

I get it. We had a pretty busy weekend in the world of sports. Lefty was winning the PGA Championship. The NBA Playoffs were getting underway. There was some Stanley Cup Playoffs action. And I guess there was probably also some baseball being played, too.

But the most chaotic and electrifying event of the weekend? The 2021 DI NCAA Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinals. We had 4 games on the schedule for this past weekend. And after the defending champs Virginia spanked the shit out of Georgetown in the first game on Saturday, the next 3 games all took 60+ minutes to figure out who would be punching their ticket to Championship Weekend.

1-seed UNC got all they could handle out of Rutgers before Connor McCarthy sent the Tar Heels to East Hartford.

The Duke Blue Devils are the biggest superteam that lacrosse currently has to offer. Offensively this team is stacked beyond belief with the #2 all-time leading point scorer in Michael Sowers and one of the most lethal freshmen we've seen this generation in Brennan O'Neill. But it was Joe Robertson scoring his 3rd overtime game winner of the season to send Duke back to the final four.

And then we had the game of the weekend between Maryland and Notre Dame. The Terps were the home team playing in South Bend, and they took the deed to Arlotta Stadium after scoring 3 goals in 46 seconds to force overtime against the Irish, and then Anthony DeMaio delivered the dagger less than a minute in to keep the season alive for Maryland.
