The First trailer For Marvel's 'The Eternals' Is A Little Disappointing

After an unexpected tragedy following the events of Avengers: Endgame the Eternals—an immortal alien race created by the Celestials who have secretly lived on Earth for over 7,000 years—reunite to protect humanity from their evil counterparts, the Deviants.

Dir: Chloe Zhao (Nomadland)
Starring: Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Millie Bobbie Brown, Kumail Nanjiani, Salma Hayek, Brian Tyree Henry

As someone who has been pretty excited for this movie, especially as director Chloe Zhao has been mopping up every award in sight for her last movie 'Nomadland', I'm pretty bummed out by this trailer. It's a strange sensation, because I don't really know what I was expecting exactly since the MCU has never really had a movie like this before. I do know, though, that I did not like this. First off, the music was flat out bad. Their adaptation of 'The End of the World' by Skeeter Davis was just weird, and the switch into the orchestral part of it sounded really cheesy. And for a movie with this big of an ensemble, only getting dialogue from one person was a little frustrating as well (No disrespect to Gemma Chan who is incredible).

All of this doesn't matter much because #1 it is just a trailer and #2 it is only the first one. It really isn't indicative of anything, so there is no reason to get your hopes down. I'm sure we will get a little more personality and less atmosphere in the next trailer, especially from the comedic actors/actresses in this cast. Also, I'm sure we will get a deeper look at the deviants as well, since we only got a quick flash of Barry Keoghan who will probably be leading them at some point.

P.S. I had no idea the Eternals were going to roll up flying a Borg Cube from star trek.
