Shoutout To Damian Lillard For Keeping His Promise And Helping A Blazers Fan Keep His House

It's becoming harder and harder to not love everything about Damian Lillard. From his high caliber of play, to his loyalty to Portland, to his musical talents, I think we can all agree that Dame is awesome. You know who realllllly thinks that? This guy

Now this probably isn't true, at least I hope it isn't. That would stress me the fuck out and then some because I've seen the Blazers play defense. On April 18th, the Blazers were 32-24. No biggie right? They just had to go 10-6 over their last 16 for that guy to keep his house. Dame accepted the challenge

This is a man that will do anything for Blazers fans, that's why I love him. The only problem was right after Dame sent that tweet, the Blazers lost 4 in a row. Suddenly that 42 number looked a whole lot tougher to get. But Dame didn't panic because since when does Dame ever panic in high pressure situations? He's not one of the best clutch point guards in the league this season by accident. All he did was end the season on a ridiculous run

With the 132-116 win over the Nuggets yesterday, the Blazers secured that 42nd win and I don't think there was a happier guy on the planet than that dude. What I love about the NBA in 2021 is the fact that we can have moments like this

Dame certainly did his part with 22/10 on 7-13 and a team best +24

and I love that he went back to that tweet. Even it's not true, as a Blazer fan who cares? If that's what Dame used in part as motivation for that 10-2 finish then who really cares. It kept them out of the play in and into a date with the injured Nuggets. Seems like the best case scenario for everyone involved.

Considering this is a pretty important postseason for the Blazers when it comes to potential changes this offseason, I think having any sort of positive karma on your side can only help. What I hope doesn't happen is the internet takes this fun and cool moment and then ruins it by always tweeting this shit to players. Let's just enjoy this for what it was. Shit came down to the very last game of the season and Dame came through for this guy. That's pretty cool.
