Ok here's the correct take- Jeff Wittek knew what he was signing up for when he agreed to join the David Dobrik "Vlog Squad". Their entire point is to do dumb shit, get views, move the needle, and make money. When that's your M.O., you are just waiting for shit to hit the fan or something to go wrong. He literally says
"I just jumped out of a plane 20 times," Jeff said in the video. "What's the worst that could happen if I swing from a rope over a one foot deep lake?"
So he knew things were going to go haywire at some point...and they did!
The real story here is obviously the fact bad news seems to follow Dobrik around, and it doesn't seem like coincidence. It seems like people mostly are talking about the way he runs his company- you either do these stunts for his videos, or you're out. But at the same time, adults are adults, and you can make your own choices. So I see it both ways. Plus, as far as I can tell, Jeff has 2.9 million followers on IG and is a millionaire from doing this type of thing, so he was fine with the tradeoff, you know, until he almost died.
So is David Dobrik a dick? Seems like it. Has not been a good year to be him. But is he 100% to blame for this? I'd say no. They both were extremely reckless in this stunt, but I wouldn't blame Johnny Knoxville if Steve-O got hurt, ya know?
And speaking of, let's just leave the stunts to the pros like Steve-O and Johnny and Bam and the fellas. Don't need Dobrik when we have Jackass.
