Reds Pitcher Lucas Sims Wanted Nothing To Do With Pitching in a Fucking Monsoon So He Decided To Throw Every Ball Into The Dugout Until The Umpire Stopped The Game

In the top of the 8th inning with two men on in a tie ball game Reds pitcher Lucas Sims was forced to throw in a torrential downpour. Freezing rain just being dumped onto the field. On his second pitch of his outing he lost the grip on a breaking ball that plunked the batter. With the bases juiced and a full count on the hitter, the rain somehow intensified. It actually looked like it was hailing for a second. Umpire didn't care the game was tied, he had to get this one in. Hurricane Katrina 2.0? What are we in little league? Let's get this show on the road. Sims proceeded to walk in the go-ahead run because well....he was pitching underwater.

The tarp crew was ready at the go, but home plate umpire Jerry Meals still wasn't budging. You want some new dirt on the mound, sure thing, but we're not stopping this thing I don't care if we all drown. I could see if we're talking a 10 run game and he just wanted the final out to happen. Nope, this is a one run contest in the 8th! What are we doing here?

Out of options with zero intentions of throwing another pitch, Sims thought quick on his feet and decided to toss every new ball thrown to him in the dugout. Genius. Hey ump, how we going to play without a baseball? They're all gone. You know because every ball you throw to me is instantly submerged underwater since it could not be raining any harder. Incredible move. I thought for a second Jerry Meals was going to eject Sims for being an asshole, even though Meals was for sure the asshole here. Angel Hernandez 100% would have gave him the boot without question. Nah instead he caved and brought out the tarp like a sensible human being in that spot.

I'm sure there's going to be people calling Sims a bitch for not wanting to pitch in a hurricane. "It's what he gets paid to do!" For those hardos I just laugh. I mean you just aren't supposed to play baseball in that weather I don't care what you say. I'm completely Team Sims here. What do you want the guy to do? Game should have been stopped 3 batters ago. If I'm the hitter I don't want to be facing a dude throwing 95 mph with zero grip of the baseball either. No brainer to stop the game there.

Sims just throwing every ball away as the rain gets harder and harder is so funny. This isn't a case of a millennial getting his way, it's just a home plate umpire who had lost his marbles and could not grasp reality in the moment. The game resumed yesterday with Sims back out there and he promptly got out of the jam. Reds didn't win the game, but that was still an awesome baseball moment. I'm a Lucas Sims guy now.

P.S. People are comparing this to Stroman's situation a few weeks ago and how people got on him. I had no issues with what he did that time either, for the record.
