Golf Has To Stop Pretending They Aren't Playing For Money With 100s Of Thousands Of Dollars On The Line Every Shot

This is going to be my life's work- getting golf to stop pretending their players aren't playing for money. As silly as that sounds, it's 100% true. They mentioned money a grand total of ZERO times during the broadcast yesterday. And sure, maybe it's because it's the Masters and they follow rules from 1885 and live in a different universe, but it's true across all golf tournaments, they simply never mention money at all. AT ALL. And that is preposterous to me because it's literally the prize they are playing for. It would be like if the NFL never mentioned the Super Bowl or a better comparison, if the WSOP never mentioned how much money was on the line for the winners.

Think about it: When you watch WSOP broadcasts, when you know the next person to be knocked misses out on a HUGE pay jump, it adds to the drama 100 fold. But for whatever reason, golf won't do it! I want to know this shit as he lines up the putt. I want the broadcasters talking about it being the most valuable putt of his career. I want everyone on the edge of their seat.

But instead they just talk about the fucking jacket the whole time. Ooooo the green jacket!!! Yeah, it's cool, don't get me wrong. But do you know what's cooler? Winning $2 million for first. Again, what do you care more about- the symbolism of the WSOP bracelet, or the $7.6 million for first?

Poor Daniel, he knew how much money this hand cost him when he finished in 11th.

Show me scoreboards like this. Talk about the cash. Talk about it all!

Maybe one day we will see payouts on the screen for golf tournaments. Or maybe they'll just keep pretending it's not all about the money, which actually in a way is kind of endearing? Like, the simple fact they never even discuss the entire reason they are playing to begin with is sort of funny I guess.

And by the way, these are the top 10 payouts:

And as for the other end of the spectrum:

$10k just to show up? Not bad! And then an additional $16,680 just for making the cut. That's it, I'm going to be a pro golfer.
