The Cardinals Fans Standing Ovation For The Brewers Kolten Wong Had Him In Tears During His At-Bat

A nice gesture here yesterday by Cardinal Nation and the self proclaimed "best fans in sports". Kolten Wong, a guy who spent 8 season as a Cardinal, had his first at-bat in Busch Stadium as a visiting member of the Milwaukee Brewers. Cards declined his option in the offseason in a kind of surprising move. You know Wong had this series circled on the calendar too. So when he stepped up to the plate for the first time he gave the Cardinals dugout a little salute, tipped his cap to former teammate Adam Wainwright and the crowd let him hear it. Yadi Molina did the right thing and stood up in front of home to give the crowd more time to cheer, a nice classy move. Wong let the claps rain down and acknowledged the crowd before putting his helmet back on basically to say "lets get this thing going". He and Yadi exchanged taps and he was ready to go.

One pitch into the game and you can tell how emotional he was, full on crying while in the box and tears in his eyes. Obviously a very emotional time and moment for Wong. Still has tons of friends on the team, was having fun with the guys during the player intros, this probably was a pretty tough day for him. But you can tell how much he enjoyed his time in St. Louis and the ovation from the crowd. I thought this was pretty awesome to see, and something you don't see much. Most guys tip their caps and move on, Wong had a strong reaction. He'd later leave the game with an oblique injury so kind of a whirlwind day for him in his return. Just a really cool moment for Wong and the Cardinals fans.
