If The Philadelphia Flyers Had A Shred Of Integrity, They'd Just Pass On The Shootout From Now On
You see that video you just watched above? The one where the Flyers missed out on grabbing a key 2nd point against the New York Islanders after losing in a shootout where the Islanders scored once and the Flyers failed to score on a single attempt? Well guess what.
That wasn't last night's shootout. That was actually 6 days ago. Here's the recap from that shootout.
And as for last night's game against the Islanders? Well after the Flyers were able to dig themselves out of a 2-0 hole, they forced the game to go to overtime. Where, again, this team doesn't have a single drop of sauce anywhere on the roster.
I mean at least this time they didn't have any complete misses like the 2 they had on Saturday. But 5 Flyers up, 5 pretty easy saves for Ilya Sorokin. Because just like a perfectly cooked steak, the Flyers have zero sauce. It's been that way since the invention of the shootout. So why don't the Flyers do everybody a favor and just defer going to a shootout from now on? Think about how much time of your life you've wasted watching the Flyers not do a damn thing in the shootout. You figure each one lasts maybe 3-5 minutes. It's happened about half a billion times so far. So I'm not much of a math person but those minutes add up to hours, those hours add up to days, those days add up to months, and those months add up to years. The Flyers are literally taking years off your life that you will never get back. Makes me sick just thinking about it.
All I ask is that the Flyers have the decency to think about the rest of us before they waste any more of our time with the shootout. Doesn't seem like that tall of an order.
