Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority organization after stealing the Tesseract during the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), and travels through time altering human history using it, ending up trapped in his own crime thriller.
The Marvel series have all delivered exactly what they have promised on so far. WandaVision was a weird mystery that was completely off the beaten path for the MCU and Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been a return to that beaten path with awesome espionage action. And I think a fact that just gets lost on us is that they are both legitimate movie-quality shows. We're just spoiled as shit, but imagine one of the CW shows getting this type of budget? Or even Monk (Bring back MONK, USA network)?
In keeping with that, I think we should all be extremely pumped for this series. Crime thrillers are some of the most rewarding genres out there IMO, and combining that with what-if scenarios across history only makes this a more promising prospect. Plus, Tom Hiddleston is just so damn charming and devious in the lead role. The Owen Wilson addition is just a cherry on top at that point. Lets take a look at some stuff from this trailer:
1. The TVA (Time Variance Authority)
The TVA claims responsibility for monitoring the multiverse and can prune timelines if they're deemed too dangerous to exist. They also take action to prevent other beings from altering the past or future.
The general idea behind them is Timecop, Time Squad, or one of the many other examples. They're basically supposed to be a lawful-neutral influence on the Marvel timelines to makes sure everything goes the way it's supposed to.
2. Mobius M. Mobius
Mobius M. Mobius is a high-ranking member of the Time Variance Authority.
Triple M is, from what we can tell based on trailer stuff, going to be Loki's handler. He also may be one of the few people to not give Loki the chance to manipulate him.
3. Destroyed New York?
See that building on the middle right? Looks familiar doesn't it? Pretty damn sure we are looking at a destroyed Stark Tower in NYC. Is this the timeline in which the chitauri take over earth in Avengers 1? We will see.
4. Lady Loki
In the comics, Lady Loki is a female version of the beloved trickster god, and also one of the most notable of Loki's shape-shifting forms. During the events of Ragnarok, Loki is reborn as a woman. More specifically, he inhabited the form of Lady Sif, Thor's lover, whose spirit was trapped elsewhere.
This means we will be getting a look at Lady Sif, who I believe is still supposed to be getting her own solo series at some point. I don't know if that is still in the cards, but this could be the segue for that.
I'm no expert, but this certainly looks like Loki is just chillin as a pyroclastic flow is destroying Pompeii. This can only mean one thing:
