'I Told You I Was A Savage'- Houston's DeJon Jarreau Talking His Shit After Shutting Down Syracuse In The Sweet 16

Houston's DeJon Jarreau can talk that shit after what he did to Syracuse. Remember, he was injured in the first game of the Tournament. People weren't sure if he'd play the rest of the way, but he's been battling that hip injury. What did he do tonight? Ho hum 9 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds while holding Buddy Boeheim to 3-for-13 from the field. Not too shabby in a low scoring game. Not too shabby against arguably the hottest player in the Tournament and the best shooter in the Tournament. Hell, the moment Jarreau took him away, Cuse had no idea what to do. They weren't ever comfortable trying to attack Houston's defense. They went 14-for-50 from the field and had the lowest amount of points in school history in the NCAA Tournament.

Now I know people will want to talk shit about Houston's path, but what are they supposed to do? This isn't the nonconference schedule. They aren't picking who they play. All they can do is play whoever the hell wins.

Almost (I stress, almost) feels like Houston deserved a break after losing in the last two Sweet 16s on a Jordan Poole buzzer beater and a Tyler Herro three with a few seconds left. They escaped Rutgers, beat Syracuse easily and now they get Oregon State. Bracket breaks every year for someone and this year it happened to be for Houston. First Elite Eight since 1984 and now 3 of the 4 teams on the right side of the bracket are former Southwest Conference teams.

He also told this story after the game. Impossible not to cheer for.
