What a way to end the night! Ladies and gentlemen - we have a NEW UFC Heavyweight Champion, and his name is Francis Ngannou!
After a huge first round for the challenger, where he landed some MASSIVE shots, defended Stipe's takedown well, landed one of his own, and clearly got the better of the champion while showing more composure than ever before....
"The Predator" was able to put Stipe Miocic out cold in the second with a flurry that rocked him and a left hook that finished him.
Even in defeat, Stipe showed a fuck ton of heart (and a chin of steel for a bit) and went out on his shield swinging. I don't know if he'll get (or even wants) a rematch immediately - especially with Jon Jones' name looming around the heavyweight division now - but I can't imagine this is the last time we see him fight for the title.
Joe Rogan touched on Ngannou's story a bit during his walkout, but if you're unfamiliar, it really is a fascinating tale....
It's incredibly hard not to be happy for him after listening to that pod, and after his performance tonight - it's also impossible not to be scared shitless of him.
P.S. DC is so glad he got out when he did….
