Eloy Jimenez Gets Hurt Trying To Catch A Baseball Again

You've all seen me bitch and moan about how Eloy plays the OF for a couple of years now. I'm not kidding when I say this, he does shit in the OF I'd yell at the HS kids I used to coach. Bad reads, misses cuts, bad angles. He's an every day MLB left fielder, yet he'd be a below average varsity OF on a HS team, and I'm not kidding when I say that. Zero embellishment there, and he's gotten hurt doing it and spent multiple days on the shelf because of how poorly he is at it.

There's nothing they can do, either. You have Vaugh, Abreu and Eloy and you can't put Vaughn or Abreu in the OF even though there's 0.0% chance they could be worse than Eloy at defending the position. Maybe not better, but definitely not worse. It sucks. I was going to wait to blog about it until news came out on what the actual injury is, but then I saw this tweet:

And my heart sank. If you're a White Sox fan, pray to the baseball gods that he is okay tonight.

Eloy, for as bad as he is defensively, is a force offensively. It wouldn't be a crazy prediction to say he could win the HR title this year while hitting .300. He just HAS to stop being an asshole in the OF. Now it looks like Billy Hamilton is going to break camp with the team and we all know how awful he is offensively. Fucking sucks that Engel is on the shelf too. 

Goddamnit. There's nothing they can do unless they consider moving him or Vaughn and we all know that's not happening, so he's gotta figure it the fuck out, because this is like the 3rd time he's gotten hurt being a bonehead in the OF. Just bad bad bad.
