Today We Salute The Real Heroes: The Teachers Who Would Roll In The TV Cart And Let Us Watch The Tournament During Class

I would be remiss if I started the day without paying the upmost gratitude and respect to the true heroes of the world- the teachers in middle school and high school who would let us watch the NCAA Tournament during class. There was always 1 or 2 of them, who despite definitely being told by administrators not to do it, would wheel in the TV cart and let us watch basketball during the school day.

And for those who are young, let me explain: we didn't have laptops during class. There was not a TV in every classroom. We didn't have fancy touch screens everywhere. We had chalk boards and overhead projectors. And so if it was video day, or better yet, tournament day, this bad boy would come wheeling down the hallway:

And it was beautiful. You saw this monstrosity in your classroom, you knew you were in for a good day. Maybe catch a quick nap because don't forget, high school started at like, 4:30 in the morning. Honestly I cannot believe how early that shit would start. They'd expect you to start learning about mitochondria and Y=MX+B before the sun came up. It was brutal.

So thank you, teachers who let us watch the tournament on the Thursday and Friday of March Madness. We will never forget you.
