The Super Bowl Champs Are Going For Two

It's been the Buccaneers mantra ever since the parade, "We're going for two"

Then my buddy, GM Jason Licht made a promise to the fans saying that the owners gave them the resources to keep their core in tact and make another run at it in 2021.

We saw some big moves last week with WR Chris Godwin getting franchised, LB Lavonte David getting re-signed (with some voidable years to prorate his bonus and reduce his 2021 cap hit), and QB Tom Brady signing an extension to lower his cap hit in 2021 as well. So with Free Agency opening today, there were still a few big names hitting the market.

Well that didn't last long. Just after 12pm, EDGE Shaq Barrett texted Josina Anderson to notify the masses he was coming back. The details of that deal were also team friendly with it turning out to be a 4-year $68M deal that can be worth up to $72M with incentives. It also was 2021 friendly.

Then this evening, it broke that Gronk has re-upped as well.

And the terms again are 2021 cap friendly.

Looking back, we probably should have seen this coming when Bruce Arians told us who was coming back at the parade.

Shoutout to Licht and Director of Football Administration Mike Greenberg, who is the best cap guy in the league for getting all this done! I have a feeling a few more deals could get done in the coming days, but with this core back in tact, I'm looking forward to going for two!
