Just Another Standard Bengals Story: Jon Kitna Claims He Played With A Receiver Who Was Drunk During A Game

[Source] - “There were some things that were hard to believe [with the Bengals],” Kitna said, via “There was a time that I played a game with a guy that was drunk in the huddle. There was a time that a guy showed up late to a game. In the NFL, you need to be there two hours, two hours and 15 minutes ahead of time. And he showed up under an hour before the game’s start. Those are weird things, now. That’s tough. I’m not sure if the staff knew. But I think the guy was like — that was kind of his normal. I mean he was drunk and had close to 200 yards receiving now. So it was crazy.”

Kitna didn’t name names, but he the circumstances make it not impossible to identify the possibilities. Given that Kitna played for the Bengals from 2001 through 2005, it’s not difficult to identify which receivers “had close to 200 yards receiving” in a game during that five-year stretch.

We’ve done the research and compiled a list of players that it could have been. Three had games of more than 150 receiving yards during Kitna’s time with the team. One had games of 189, 161, and 152. One had 171. Another had 152.

This is a mix of Playmakers and Tim Riggins coming to life. Dude out here drunk and dropping near 200 receiving yards. Just proves that you do everything a little bit better when drunk. Sex, beer pong, dancing, playing in the NFL. Almost like a performance enhancing drug if you think about it. This is some kind of tattle tale shit from Kitna though. You can't be talking about one of your guys was drunk, even if the statute of limitations appears to be over. Somethings just stay in the huddle. Something are bigger than sports even.

This is up there though for the most of course type story with the Bengals. Now all everyone wants to do is figure out who. Good news is it's not Chris Henry and Kitna is out here airing out dirty laundry about a dude who passed away. Kitna played 2001-05 with the Bengals and people are starting to figure out the 3 names. The ones I've seen are Darnay Scott (152 yards against the Titans), TJ Houshmanzadeh had 171 and Ochocino. If it was McDonald's breath think it's pretty clear we know who the answer would be.

Let's be honest though, this is all about the Bengals. What other NFL franchise would have a quarterback talking about this 20ish years later? No one. It's why they are the Bengals. It's why I'm convinced they'll never win a playoff game again. Not even sure how being drunk helps, but shout out whoever it was for getting nearly 200 yards. Feel like running routes and just the consistent quick sprints would be exhausting if you're hammered. Peak athleticism.
