The Washington Post Jumps On The Iowa Bandwagon With Their "Why Iowa Rules" List

washintonpost

Des Moines Register- On the heels of the Today Show’s designation of Des Moines as “America’s wealthiest city,” the Washington Post is jumping on the bandwagon of Iowa love. Political writer Chris Cillizza, who has spent ample time in Iowa covering the presidential caucuses, made a top 12 list of reasons why “Iowa rules.” Among them: State Fair cheese curds, the downtown Starbucks and political competition. “Iowa is, in a word, so hot right now,” Cillizza writes. “Not literally,” he adds. “The temperature in Des Moines at noon was -1.” Other reasons Cillizza is touting the Hawkeye state include breakfast at the Machine Shed, Raygun’s “Des Moines: Hell Yes” t-shirt, and the real-life Field of Dreams.?Read his full list here, and add your own reasons why Iowa rules in the comments below.

Here’s a link to the list.

And the accolades just keeping rolling in!  It’s actually a little overwhelming.  I mean clearly we’re awesome but this is getting a little out of hand.  We don’t sneaky run the world any more.  We just straight up run the world.  The same day The Today Show names Des Moines the wealthiest city in America and Miley Cyrus tweets multiple pictures of corn, The Washington Post senses where the momentum is shifting and plants both feet firmly on the Iowa bandwagon with their list of why we fucking rule.  The guy literally said in the article: “Iowa is, in a word, so hot right now.”  All of the stuff you expect on a list of awesome Iowa things are on the list.  Field of Dreams, how we set the tone for presidential races, RAGBRAI, that Iowans are super nice (we are), etc.  Not to mention we have two of the best college basketball teams in the nation.  I’m a little pissed that Barstool Iowa wasn’t on the list since we’re clearly leading the charge.  But props to the Washington Post nonetheless.  They see that the winds of interent dominance are shifting and they are pointing towards the state of Iowa.  Get with it or get the fuck outta the way.

PS- If nobody else is going to say it I will.  Did Pres do it again or did Pres do it again?
