High School In Washington Goes Viral For Making Students Stuff Into Tents In Order To Attend Band Practice
Source - Here's what band practice looks like now at a recently reopened high school in Washington state -- still making music, but in COVID-safe bubbles.
The bright green tents are the new norm now for the Wenatchee High School band ... and it looks like some instruments are better suited to this than others...
The scene here is the complete opposite of The Flaming Lips concert last month in Oklahoma City, where it was the crowd in space bubbles instead of the actual band.
It's far from aesthetically pleasing, but here's the bottom line -- the kids are back in school and getting a little closer to normal. Baby steps.
I am being 100% serious when I say I laughed out loud at the photo of the kid with the tuba. Full blown spit-take. I mean what an absolutely preposterous picture...

Just hunched over, face an inch from the music with no where to go. It probably took him an hour to get in there too. And where does the sound go? Into the plastic? Credit to these kids for actually showing up because I would've quit the second I walked in. It's not like there's a future in "band" anyway, at least not in the traditional sense. You've got a better shot at making a living playing Fortnite than you playing an instrument.
Part of me wants to belive that this entire thing was a prank. How funny would that be if the teachers were just fucking with the students? They weren't, but I wish they were. Oh well. Hopefully everyone in this photo got their practice in and is ready for the next recital. Best of luck, kids!
