The Duet We've All Dreamed About Is Finally Coming True. DMX Announced He and Bono Have a Track Together On His Upcoming Album

CoS- During a recent appearance on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s Drink Champs podcast, legendary New York rapper DMX revealed an unexpected collaboration set for his upcoming album. He surprised the hosts with news of a joint track titled “Skyscrapers” that features U2 lead singer Bono.

According to the Yonkers MC, his longtime collaborator Swizz Beatz brought the unlikely pair together. “It’s crazy,” DMX said about the track. “It got like a Miami feel to it. I feel like I want to shoot the video here.” He went on to compliment Bono’s vocals on the bridge.

DMX told the podcast hosts that he has just two songs to finish before his upcoming project is complete. His other collaborators on the album include the late Pop Smoke, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys, Usher, and members of the Griselda crew including Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, and Benny the Butcher.

The currently unnamed effort is DMX’s proper follow-up to 2012’s Undisputed. Seven Arts Music released an unauthorized album titled Redemption of the Beast in 2015.

"I've got blood on my hands and there's no remorse, I've got blood on my dick cuz I fucked your corpse, Sunday Bloody Sundaaaaay". (- DMX x Bono mash up line, not mine)

This news has got me so fired up!

Say what you will about Bono, many adore him, many hate him for his outspokenness, but the man is in the pantheon of musicians. He's been the frontman for a band that has stood the test of time for 40 years now. Which puts U2 in rarified air.

The fact he's chipping in his talents to a 2021 DMX record is incredible.

How does this happen?

Swizz Beatz baby.

Turns out Swizz and Bono are BFF's. No joke.

Jimmy Iovine introduced the two decades ago and they've been buddies ever since.

Swizz is obviously going all out for the Dark Man on this album which is evident by the fact he phoned in a favor this big.

This isn't the first time Bono has dipped his toe in the hip-hop waters. He did Swizz another solid back when he collaborated on the track he produced for Jay-Z and Rihanna, "Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)".

People forget what a force DMX was in his heyday.

There was a solid 5 year period where DMX was king of the Rap mountain, or tied for the top spot (Jay-Z).

The fact that he has Swizz Beatz producing this new album means we are getting one of the best dynamic duo artist + producer tandems of all time back together to make magic.

And did you see that list of featured guests? Monster.

Can't wait for this unnamed album to drop.

C'mon!

p.s.- really wish Kay Slay, Whoo Kid, and Green Lantern mixtapes were still a thing so we could hear this track leaked tomorrow with one of them screaming all over it like crazy.

p.p.s. - Best the best DMX duet is still and always will be with Sisqo. Yes Sisqo.
