If The Yankees Get Dustin Ackley We Riot

It’s not uncommon for the Yankees to be very quiet before the trade deadline and then make a move. We’ve seen Cashman slow play on free agents as well, only to get the biggest fish out there. This time though, I feel uneasy about the silence and the fact that the only rumor we are hearing publicly is a love of Dustin Ackley.

Ackley is hitting .215 with a .635 OPS. but we already have Drew hitting .187 with a .638 OPS. When we talk about upgrading at 2nd, this isn’t what you look for. Then you add in that we have a major league ready guy in AAA and I am so puzzled what the hell Cashman is thinking. If this move happens and it’s the only move we make, the division is still ours, but after that I have no clue.

For the next 24 hours or so, we just have to hope that Cashman is being some kind of evil genius, waiting out the Tigers to grab Price. Based on the trades that have been made so far, the Yankees have way more to offer than has already been dealt and could have gotten Hamels for less than the rumors were saying, because Texas didn’t give up much to lock in their 2nd ace for next year.

These are the times where we see what kind of GM Cashman is because it’s not just about throwing money at players in the offseason.
