King Felix Is Coming To Baltimore!

King Felix!!!!! Did Mike Elias do it again or did he do it again? Future Hall Of Famer, Cy Young winner, ERA Champ, and 6 time All Star, Felix Hernandez is coming to Baltimore baby! Well, we hope he's coming to Baltimore at some point. Jon Heyman saying that the Orioles are signing King Felix to a minor league deal worth $1 million. The Orioles have an obvious need in their rotation, and who's to say that King Felix can't do a good job late in the rotation? They were looking for a guy to fill the veteran role after they traded Alex Cobb to the Angels, and maybe this is it? He opted out of the 2020 season after signing with Atlanta and had a rough ending to his Mariners career posting a 4.89 ERA, 1.376 WHIP,  382 Ks in 467.1 innings, and a 26-35 record from 2016 to 2019. It is odd to see a veteran take the risk of pitching in a batter friendly park with the Baltimore weather, especially against these lineups, but hey, if he can come in and do some good, more power to him.

Obviously he isn't the Cy Young winning pitcher he was back in 2010, but maybe he has something left in that arm. Maybe he helps tutor the Orioles youngsters for a season, maybe they move him at the deadline if he's pitching well. Regardless, that is going to be an AWESOME shirsey if he gets called up. Felix jones the likes of Sammy Sosa, Jim Thome, and Vlad Guerrero as guys you'll look back on and say "holy shit, they played for the Orioles?" It's a very low risk, high reward signing for the club too, literally no downside to this. I love the move though. Will it change anything about the Orioles season? Not a chance in hell, but again, if he can teach some of these young guys a thing or 2 about how to dominate a game, I'd count that as a win. NOW GIVE ME THE KINGS COURT IN BALTIMORE!!
