The Barstool Fund - Muk's Sports Pub (Thanks To Penn National Gaming)
Thanks to Penn National Gaming for their donation to help cover our next business, Muk's Sports Pub (Tecumseh, MI).
The building that houses Muk's Sports Pub has a long and storied history. Although present ownership has expanded on the kitchen and has brought a "sports" theme to the business, the core still remains good friends and neighbors having a place to enjoy each other's fellowship.

Hi, my name is Karin Mukensturm, and I own a 60 seat Sports bar and grill in Tecumseh, Michigan a town of about 8500. We have had this place since 1979, and have been a staple in downtown. A dream my husband had for a great place for food sports spirits and fun. Yes, we root for the Lions. My husband got sick in 1988 but continued to work at his bar through all of his health issues. Unfortunately in 2004, while in a helicopter on his way to a larger hospital (U of M) he coded, they brought him back but 23 minutes had passed and after 5 days and several brain scans I had to make the heart wrenching decision to stop life support. He was only 52.
I have now been running the bar since his death, and couldn’t have done it without my rocks, my faithful employees! I never went into debt, I saved for everything, new equipment, chairs and bar stools, etc, and to no fault of my own, I am now in debt. Our Governor in all her infinite wisdom, even though the science shows we as an industry do not spread the virus, has closed us again. She has , however, allowed casinos, theaters and bowling alleys to open. My employees are about to run out of unemployment and this was the first year I could not give them a Christmas Bonus, that really broke my heart.
I am trying take out but really, our place is where you want to meet your friends and family for some food and drinks and conversation or watch sports together. I don’t want to lose this place, I feel like I would fail my late husband. We have a great community and my customers are loyal, but take out isn’t going to pay the bills or keep my employees working. I hope you can help me stay afloat, but regardless, thank you for stepping up and helping our industry that has been destroyed by no fault of our own. I have been following you on Fox News, so great job. Thank you for the consideration and a place to bitch.
Sincerely Appreciative, Karin
