The Barstool Fund - Crystal City Sports Pub
Up next: Crystal City Sports Pub (Arlington, VA)
The Crystal City Sports Pub was founded in 1994 by three friends who wanted a neighborhood restaurant with a playful ambiance that gave the weekend athlete a place to ice their knees and the 9 to 5 adult a place to go and relax. The local favorite certainly reached that goal.

Hello Dave and the Barstool family,
Thank you so much for what you’re doing for small business, like ours. We really appreciate what you’re doing and for considering us. Crystal City Sports Pub is located in Arlington, VA and has been here since 1994. We are the largest Sports Bar in Virginia with 3 floors, 3 bars, and two kitchens. Sports Illustrated named us as one of the top 20 sports bars in the country. We have been wildly successful due to the fact that we are close to the Pentagon and the National Landing airport. In our success, we have been able to donate to numerous charities, support local sports teams, local schools, and organize drives. We have supported SCAN, Toys for Tots, Wakefield High School, Oakridge Elementary, Midtown Softball, and many more over the years. It has been a pleasure and an honor to donate to those groups. We also support the local police, fire department, and military. Dozens of police officers come here every day to enjoy the low priced food we offer them. We are notorious for hosting retirement parties, birthday parties, tour groups, and wedding receptions. I want you to see that we aren’t just a sports bar, we are a staple in the community and hope to continue to be. This past year has been really tough for us and unfortunately, we weren’t in a position to be able to donate. We went from over 250 seats to a 10-person capacity to only deliveries. We lost on average 35% of our revenue compared to 2019 and at an overall loss for the entire year. When we were closed down, we retained our essential employees and kept them busy just to keep them employed. Our staff was cleaning, refurbishing, running deliveries, etc. We depleted our reserves preparing for a reopen and paying our employees through those months. It is with a heavy heart that we have been placed in this position to ask for help, but here we are. Thank you for your consideration,
Arty Doughtery
