The Undertaker Returned And Kicked Brock Lesnar's Ass, And a Few Other Things Of Note From Last Night Including Why John Cena Winning Sucks

So as I blogged about on Friday, Undertaker did in fact make his return to the WWE ring last night, interfering in the Seth Rollins vs Brock Lesnar championship match and taking revenge on Lesnar for snapping his streak. We’ll put aside the fact that was 2 Manias ago and he had a match with Bray Wyatt in between, but ok, fine, he comes out and gets revenge on Lesnar, costing him an easy victory vs Rollins. So the question on everyone’s mind is “what now?” What we have is a face Lesnar vs face Undertaker who despite doing a chicken shit low blow, isn’t going to be booed. He’s the Undertaker. But it’s pretty confusing how they want the audience to react and what to expect from a Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker match.

Since beating Undertaker’s streak at Mania, Lesnar has been untouchable. He has nearly murdered John Cena, the guy who simply does not lose to ANYONE, twice. He lost the title in a triple-threat match he dominated and never got pinned. He’s booked so strongly and has already beat Undertaker at the one place Undertaker does not lose- Wrestlemania, that now 2 years later it doesn’t make sense to me for any of that to change now. On the other hand, I can buy into the notion that we are talking about the Deadman. The Phenom. Age and the like simply don’t matter. I can try to buy into that, but I don’t think most people can. It would be funny though if at Summerslam we saw Lesnar vs Taker and Lesnar beat the living shit out of him. Like, we all go into the match thinking they are going to make Undertaker look like he has a chance and Lesnar just ragdolls him. It won’t happen but the thought of it makes me laugh.

Also, if we are now booking Lesnar vs Undertaker, what becomes of Rollins and the championship belt? We all know Lesnar is the most unbeatable guy in the company, but since he isn’t on TV week in and week out, they don’t want to give him the strap. So who now faces Rollins? Anyone? Bueller? Is there a right answer? They book and build people so shittly that I’m not sure there’s a viable opponent. And before you say Cesaro or Ambrose…THEY WEREN’T EVEN ON THE PPV LAST NIGHT. What a joke. The two faces who are way over aren’t even on the PPV. What is WWE doing? How funny will it be when Rollins turns face and the main event is Rollins vs HHH for the title. HHH just putting himself back in the main event picture. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

And now let’s talk about the other big match from last night, Owens vs Cena. We all know Kevin Owens, came into WWE and beat Cena clean in his first match. That was so fun. They have had a great feud. But oh yea, Cena doesn’t lose feuds. Ever. No matter what. So instead of building Owens as a super-strong heel, the guy to follow in Lesnar’s footsteps, they just have him repeatedly lose to Cena and squash all the momentum and strength he showed. He fucking tapped out. He tapped out! Just awful, awful booking. I like to take a step back and think about possibilities and where WWE is headed and if it makes sense, and this one doesn’t. It’s identical to what they did to Bray Wyatt. We all remember. Bray Wyatt was the hottest thing in WWE. Huge crowd reactions. The guy everyone wanted to see. The top heel. But he was too good at being a heel so they squashed him, fed him to Cena, and then took him off TV for a while. Just butchered the fuck out of him. It’s so awful how they do this. They did it to Cesaro too. Guy is the full package, but nope! Isn’t a Vince McMahon guy, so they killed him. Has taken him a year to get back because he’s just so talented it’s hard to hold him back (until of course he’s not booked in a match on a PPV but the Miz is). So Cena wins again, Owens is probably going to feud with Cesaro in the midcard, and we watch another wasted opportunity by the WWE. The two different reactions/types of wrestling fans after Cena won over Owens last night:

And PS: There’s one guy who I see beating Lesnar. And I don’t dislike this guy at all anymore. His career was fucked over by Vince, and I hope people realize that it’s not his fault. This guy:

Yes I know he lost last night, and Wyatt got what, his first ever PPV win? But maybe we should give Reigns another chance. He puts on good matches now and is obviously a huge guy who is over. Just keep Vince away from him. I think the moral of this blog is Vince ruins everything.

Will be interesting to see where they go from here. SummerSlam is right around the corner. We have no clear number 1 contender, we have a face Lesnar and a face Undertaker, and a whole bunch of questions. Maybe Sting shows up tonight on Raw to further complicate things. If anything, at least they are keeping it interesting.
