It's Good To See Urban Meyer Is Feeling Healthy Enough To Return To Coaching

I am nervous, excited, happy, and sad.

Sad that Urban was forced out of Ohio State when he still had something left in the tank. Happy that he's getting another opportunity to do what he loves. Excited that he's got the #1 pick in the draft and a franchise QB to work with. And nervous (of course for his health) that he's going to fail and tarnish his impeccable reputation. Urban Meyer should not go to the NFL. That's a fact. He can't control the program like he did in college. He can't recruit 5-star players at every position. And he can't run the quarterback on every single 3rd and 2. This is a bad idea. I'll support Urban in any venture he wants to take on, but it hurts me to think his reputation will be tarnished when he, like many that have made the jump to the pros, will be unsuccessful. College and professional football is honestly so different that they're almost different sports. Urban Meyer has had the talent advantage in every single game he's ever coached in. In fact, he's probably had 50 games in his career where he team has had the better player in all 22 positions. That is not the case anymore.

I think Urban Meyer is the perfect college football coach. Arguably the greatest of all time. A master recruiter and a master motivator. But these grown ass men go play where they are drafted or where the money is, which is slightly different than coaching Division 1 college football.

These guys don't need to be motivated. They don't play for the pride of their uniform. They need to be coached and they need schemes to beat other players that are the biggest, fastest, strongest men in the world. I'm not sure Urban is playing to his strengths here. He's going to need some very good assistants if he is going to be successful. And he's a smart guy, he knows that.

Do we think Urban and Tommy Herman rekindle the flame? I thought he'd go to Alabama but Billy O'Brien took his spot in rehab. I know that Urban Meyer essentially hates him for ruining his career at Ohio State by getting upset he couldn't recruit well so he leaked the Zack Smith story, but could he be the OC? Or maybe Hue Jackson? Lol, I'm kidding. Urban might be making a bad decision here, but he's not that dumb.

Well, the Jaguars just became my 2nd NFL team. I'll support Urban wherever he goes. He's done so much for me in my life. But I just hope he's healthy and the team does well, because if not, that brain cyst is going to be the size of a cantaloupe by Week 10 if they're 1-9.
