It Was Absolutely Thrilling But Our Washington Football Team Came Up Just Short
What a game. Absolutely thrilling. The most fun I've had watching a game in a long time. And what stinks is it was winnable. If a couple little things went a different way (I won't complain about calls but seriously, that holding call and the touchback call, woof) the WFT wins this game. So it's encouraging in that aspect, that a 7-9 team can go toe to toe with Tom Brady and have a chance to win it at the end.
Taylor Heinicke did everything asked of him and more. Absolute legend status. I have no idea what happens with him after this- he's a free agent now, but man, he looked unbelievable. And to think he was backing up in the XFL? How does someone go from backup to almost beating Tom Brady in a matter of months? Remarkable.
At the end of the day, it came down to Antonio Gibson not being healthy and the defense giving up big plays. The defense is what got us here and they couldn't slow down the Bucs tonight.
It's alright though. There's so much to build off of. Lots of good things happened this year, and the young core will only get better and added to. Sucks to lose, but if you are ever going to chalk up a moral victory, this is a good time to use it. Can't wait for next season.
