The Clippers Set An NBA Record By Being Down FIFTY (50) Points At Halftime

No Kawhi. 13 points in the first quarter. A crisp 14 point second quarter. All while giving up a cool 77 to Luka and the Boys. Paul George is out here getting shit pumped on an NFL Sunday. What a perfect day to have this happen to you. No one even remembers there's basketball on right now. People are too busy trying to win Fantasy leagues, watch their teams fight to get into the playoffs, or tank for a generational quarterback, to pay any attention to the Clippers right now. Especially with no Kawhi playing? Brilliant day to get absolutely molly-whopped if you're Paul George.

As I write this the Clippers have exploded out of halftime with a 10-0 run. Typically terrifying. In this case? STILL a 40-point deficit. The only thing funnier than a 50 point halftime lead would be blowing a 50 point halftime lead, and I don't think today is the day we witness such a collapse. I'd love to be wrong, because I'm a sucker for history, but I just don't see it. 

It's extremely impressive that the Clippers, a well known NBA laughing stock, were able to acquire two top-15 players last year only to immediately blow a 3-1 lead in the playoffs, come back, and set an embarrassing NBA record one week into the next season. Just goes to show that no matter what, if you're a loser franchise you need a lot more than a strong offseason to change you colors. Good players, new ownership, you can only do so much to try and erase decades of incompetence.
