Heartbroken. The Browns Couldn’t Beat The God Damn Jets With The Playoffs On The Line

I’m speechless. A recovery session in the hot tub ruined our season. Dwayne Haskins was in a strip club without a mask on and he’s starting today, but the Browns lost their entire receiving corps because they were preparing for a game? This is unbelievable. And it cost us an easy win vs. the Jets. We should've clinched a playoff berth today. Or I guess we could’ve taken the Ravens approach and found a couple extra players to rule out, making sure that we didn’t have enough to play.

I don’t know guys. I know I’m grasping for straws here. Because missing 4 receivers or not, we lost to the Jets. And there’s no excuse for losing to a 1-13 team. We didn’t even miss the receivers as much as we missed the offensive line today. We couldn’t run the ball. We couldn’t pass protect. We couldn’t make any throws. And even when we could do ALL of that, we still couldn’t catch it. We looked like the 1-13 team out there today.

And I’ll say this: I was disappointed in our play calling today. Was this the Austin Hooper showcase game or what? You’ve GOT to get the ball in our playmakers hands. Nick Chubb has been our focal point all season, until today. I know we couldn’t move the ball on the ground, but there’s other ways to get them touches. We were allergic to getting Kareem Hunt the football today. But we threw the ball to Austin Hooper FIFTEEN TIMES. We’ve got to be better than that. I know we had receivers practice in the parking garage at 8 am this morning, but I thought our offensive gameplan would’ve been better than it was. And don’t give me some bullshit about us having to play from behind either. We went 3 and out on the first possession of the game with 3 passes. Passing without receivers. In a 0-0 game. Do we not have the best running game in the league??

I don’t know what else to say. Baker Mayfield had multiple drives to become a legend in Cleveland, and he pissed them all away. What a final play of the game. A fumble on a quarterback sneak. That is Cleveland Browns football.

**I don’t want to come across as a sore loser here, but why was that a “fumble”? Ball never touched the ground. That’s technically a lateral and Kareem Hunt got the 1st down. But I digress. The refs and the NFL were never going to let us win that game. They showed it over and over and over again.

But the good news is that our good friends the Pittsburgh Steelers came back and beat the Colts. And now we’re in a Win and We’re In situation next week, AT HOME, against the Steelers. The Steelers have locked up the division.....they may be resting their starters next week. They blew a golden opportunity today, but this is still very very much within our grasp. We’re not playing for nothing next week. We’re playing to make the playoffs.

Again, it’s at home. And I know covid is very bad and very contagious and a once in a lifetime pandemic is going on, but this is the Browns and the playoffs we’re talking about here. A Browns playoff game comes around for Cleveland about once in a lifetime too. Governor DeWine, can we do a 1 day exception to the 300 person covid rule? We need 60,000 people in the stadium next Sunday.
