Despite The NFL Trying To Screw The Browns, If You Can't Beat The 1-13 Jets, You Don't Deserve To Be In The Playoffs
I retract.
Not because I was wrong. I was 100% correct. The NFL accommodated the Ravens over and over again, but when it's the Browns in a must win game they act like it's do big deal? I mean, the Browns offense is going to have to introduce themselves to each other in the pregame meeting this morning. At what point does it go from "next man up" to "who's left?". It makes no sense to me how the NFL didn't come up with a plan, such as adding an 18th week, to prepare for situations like this. Does Goodell know we're in a global pandemic?
But again, I retract and I'm done complaining. At some point you just need to pick up your rifle and go to war. And that's what the Browns appear to be doing today. There is no reason they should have to take the field with their entire receiving room, half their offensive line, and half their linebackers out today. But credit to the Browns because word on the street is they didn't make a peep to the league office. They're ready to play. It's put up or shut up time. If you can't beat the 1-14 Jets, then you don't belong in the playoffs.
Now the good news is that the Jets have to lose today, right? Like, aren't they actually trying to lose.....? They already blew their guarantee at Trevor Lawrence the #1 pick, but I guess the Jaguars can turn around and return the favor. I would think as much as the Browns are trying to win, the Jets are just as likely to hope to lose today. That matters. And something else that matters is that although the Browns are missing their entire receiving room, they still have Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Am I happy that we're missing Jarvis, Hollywood Higgins, Peoples-Jones, and Hodge? Of course not. But we still are going to pound the rock. And it's a damn good thing we have 50 tight ends on our roster, because we're going to need them today. Everyone is freaking out about the practice squad receivers we needed to elevate for today's game, but I disagree. I'm honestly calmed down in the fact that I think we can still use our normal guys. Austin Hooper, Harrison Bryant, David Njoku, Kareem Hunt, and Nick Chubb can all do what we need today. And we've still got the should be frontrunner for MVP, Baker Mayfield, behind center. When the news broke, I was nervous. But at this moment I feel good about our weapons. The offensive line is more troubling to me.....
Alright, like I said, I feel better about today. If we can't beat the Jets, we don't deserve to make it. But what are we feeling about the Steelers game, Browns fans? A Steelers win, paired with our win, and we're IN. But a Steelers loss, paired with our win, and we're playing them next week for the AFC North Championship. Folks, we could be hosting playoff football in Cleveland.
But that also leaves the door open for a loss next week and to miss the playoffs at 11-5......
I personally think we need to cheer for the Steelers this week. A bird in hand is better than two in the bush. But my god, the Steelers are reeling. They'd have lost 4 in a row and they'd be coming to Cleveland for a winner take all game? I LIKE OUR CHANCES IN THAT ONE. But when you haven't made the playoffs since 2002, beggars can't be choosers. I'm cheering for the Steelers today. Get us into the playoffs and then we'll figure out how to advance.
