The Barstool Fund - La Conca D'oro
Up next: La Conca D'Oro (Catskill, NY)
The longest-running restaurant in the Catskills, La Conca D'Oro boasts a variety of Italian and American dishes. Their chef and the team have years of experience and are not afraid to try innovative dishes — which is one of many reasons why this has become a local favorite.

Dear Barstool Sports,
I am writing to ask for your help in keeping my mom’s restaurant up and running. My mother Cheryl Bergendorff has owned La Conca D’oro Restaurant for nearly 25 years. La Conca D’oro is located in the small town of Catskill, New York. The restaurant offers brick oven pizza, an old school bar with a heavy pour, and massive food portions. This place is so important to my family and a landmark in the local community. It is the longest running restaurant in Catskill and is woman owned. My mom has managed to stay open throughout COVID and has continued to pay her employees, which I hope makes her eligible for your program.
This business is my mom's entire life and livelihood; there is no backup plan for her. My mom lives above the restaurant and spends every day, including her days off, downstairs in the restaurant trying to make it the best it can be. She is the hardest working person I know, and she deserves a break more than anyone. She is already in debt and is struggling to make ends meet. She has no personal savings left at this point, everything has gone back into the restaurant and paying employees. She has weathered recessions and economic struggles before but has been struggling worse than ever these last few months. It has been incredibly difficult for her to cover the mortgage, bills, food expenses, taxes, and payroll. She is afraid that soon there will be no indoor dining again (most money comes from the dining rooms and bar). Any help would be extremely appreciated. If the restaurant is selected for your program, I would be elated to send you the specifics on La Conca D’oro’s expenses.
By the way, my name is Karlee Bergendorff and I am currently visiting my home at La Conca D’oro trying to help my mom keep things afloat. Before I leave again to return to my work, I would really love to leave my mom in a better place with the restaurant. Her spirits are down and we are both honestly very scared for the future of the restaurant. She has devoted her entire life to this business. I grew up here, it is our home. She had me when she was 23 and bought the restaurant when she was 27. This restaurant holds not only many of our memories but those of many other locals and visitors ranging from engagements to birthdays and drunken holiday parties. La Conca D'oro is a truly special place that needs to still be there on the other side of things. My mom works her ass off and I wish more than anything that you find her to be a good fit for your fund. Thank you for your consideration.
With appreciation,
Karlee Bergendorff
