Hello,
My name is Jeff Carter Jr. I am the owner and operator of Dough Boy Fresh Pretzel Co.
We started as a food truck in Baltimore almost 4 years ago. We were supposed to have the Grand Opening of our production facility this past April. Obviously that didn’t happen. But before I bring up all the bad shit. I want to tell you about who we are and what we do.
Dough Boy Fresh is a different kind of pretzel company. We specialize in loaded pretzel bites. Pictures attached. We are what we call hyper collaborative. We are always working with other local businesses, artists, creatives and everything in between. Our cheese we use is from our friends at Snake Hill who are a local sausage restaurant. We have bites with a cheese sauce and everything bagel topping. We call those Snake Style Bites. The marinara we use is my other friends restaurant, Johnny Rads. They are a local pizza joint and we use their marinara. So we call those Rad Knots. They are like a cross between a pretzel, a garlic knot and a pizza. Our whole menu is paired with local ingredients.
Our origin story is the story I would like to share with you most. I learned how to make dough from my Polish grandmother, Babu. She would make her Polish raviolis every year at Christmas time. I would help her. I actually have her recipe tattooed on my arm so I could never forget it. Pics attached to prove it. She was also the first person I made pretzels with. Unfortunately Babu passed away this year.
I hadn’t seen her in almost a month. The longest since college. I was in a Covid quarantine. I was 4 days removed when I was supposed to go see her and I got the call she passed away. My father who Babu is his mother. He couldn’t see her as he was still in quarantine. Couldn’t see her for 3 more days. It was awful for us. This will be our first Christmas without her.
In her honor I am selling her raviolis this year and hosting a livestream teaching people how to make them. It was be a healing opportunity for my family as well as something potentially life saving to my business. We were weeks away from a grand opening. Missed out on at least $200k in projected sales from our food truck. Which we were forced to sell to bring in more capital. We are only kept alive on loans right now.
I lost my grandmother in 2020. I’m not going to lose my business too.
I’m dead ass serious when I say I put $300 in Penn stock on Tuesday. I actually used to work for Hollywood Casino in Perryville which is being bought back by Penn. I texted some old colleagues about the news after it was public. So I bought $Penn. Last week I had a meeting with 5Iron in Baltimore about helping them make use of their space during this pandemic. They sponsor some of your podcasts. I lost my Barstool gold membership card leaving there a few weeks before. We are friends with Brick n Fire Pizza who you all helped dramatically this year with the pizza review. I saw Nate who works with you all at the Royal Rumble two years ago. I almost had to get him in my uber because his phone was going to die. Please ask him I bet he can verify the story. I think Zillion Beers is one of the most genius marketing stories of all time.
My point in that ramble is I think there’s a lot of similarities between my company and Barstool Sports. Please look into my company. We are fighters. We just never had to fight until now. And we are in the biggest fight of our lives. I just want you all to bet on us and make some money with us when we win.
Thanks,
Jeff
