Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - July 9th

KMARKO-HR

Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.

Man my teams have been STRUGGLING the past 2 nights. Feel like I’m an actual MLB player in the middle of a 3 game hitless slump (except instead of a professional athlete I’m a nerd on a laptop making fake $27-$100 lineups). Haven’t been horrible with my hitters but have been missing more than usual and my pitchers have been dogshit. Got unlucky with Hammel getting injured in the first last night, and trying to strike some cheap high upside gold with the Phillies bum against a cold Dodgers team blew up in my face.

Picks last night:

Donaldson: No home run but 18 points will do the trick.

Blackmon: DUD, all caps, D-U-D

Giavotella & Phegley: Both with RBI singles, whatever, normal value play shit.

Really short slate tonight, but wanted to get some picks up anyway because I’m a firm believer in playing through your slumps. Shooters keep shooting no matter how many shots they brick, same thing applies here, again, in a more nerdy way.

Pitching Notes:

-Greinke obviously the safest option. I said I was scared of Kershaw last night and he promptly put up what, 95 points? Think I’ll say I’m scared of Greinke tonight then roster him and watch him go for 100. Reverse psychology.

-Jose Fernandez looks intriguing, but those Reds and their home run hitters are a little intimidating for a guy making only his 2nd start off Tommy John.

-Anyone got any good value pitching options for me? I’m stuck here.

Hitters:

OF JD Martinez $5.6K

He’s incredibly expensive so depending on your pitchers you might not splurge here, but if I’m spending up this is the first place I’m looking. The guy has been so on fire lately that his fire is on fire. Now consider Mike Pelry will be basically tossing him slow pitch softball tonight and I see a homer in his future.

3B Nolan Arenado $4.5K

We got another Coors series! Let me guess…a threat of rain tonight? Yup! Why wouldn’t it fucking rain in Colorado? I’m still going to be playing heavily from both sides, and it starts with Arenado. $4.5K for a home game against a lefty is pretty insane, especially in a game with by far the highest total of the night. I love Tulo as well but looking at the SS option he’s probably going to be like 80% owned, which is tough for tournaments.

VALUE PLAYS

C AJ Pierzynski $3.8K

Gonna be tough for me to fade Pierzynski tonight, who is not only on a tear recently and playing at Coors tonight, is also coming in at sub-4K at a crappy position.

2B/3B Jace Peterson $3.9K

Take your pick between the top 6 or 7 spots in the Braves order at Coors tonight. Maybin is probably your top option, but can you really pay $5K for him? I’ll be picking and choosing my way through the lower priced guys like Jace, Uribe and Kelly Johnson, then crossing my fingers for another classic Coors explosion.

Good luck tonight, keep an eye on the weather @kmarkobarstool
