The 10 (TEN!) Win Browns Dominate The Giants, And I Retract My Statement That Baker Mayfield Isn't The League MVP
That's 10 (TEN!) W's, folks. Swept the almighty, vaunted NFC East this year too. And we're now one win away from clinching our first playoff birth since 2002.....and we play the Jets. A Jets team, I might add, that will be trying harder to lose than we will to win. Guys, this is really happening. The Browns will be playing in the postseason this year, and I think we've got a legitimate chance to win the first one. I mean, they're saying our #1 most likely opponent is the Titans. Uhhh....been there, done that.
Now listen, Clevelanders are known as people of integrity and for that, I will be the first to admit when I was wrong. I was wrong exactly two weeks ago when I wrote that Baker Mayfield was NOT an MVP candidate.
Baker Mayfield is not winning us games, but I will give him credit for doing a damn good job of not losing them. I'm so biased towards Cleveland that it's a fault, but even I wouldn't put Baker in my top three MVP candidates, on the team!!
Wow, even the best and the brightest can be wrong from time to time. And as I sit here this morning, I would like to retract my ignorant statement and issue an apology to Baker Mayfield. I have changed my mind: Baker Mayfield is the most deserving winner of the NFL MVP award. He would have my vote and he honestly should win it.
Last night's stats:
27 for 32 (Browns record 84% completion on 25+ passes), 297 yards, 2 TD, and zero turnovers. AND he throws the ball away when he's in trouble instead of trying to do too much or taking sacks. This guy has gotten infinitely better. And he's really shown in the last couple weeks....
The Browns have gone from winning with Baker to winning because of Baker. This offense is LEGIT. We've got the run game. We've got the QB. We've got the offensive line. And we've got enough good receivers. This is a whole different blog, but uhh, I'd 100% trade OBJ in the offseason. Our offense is good enough without him. Let's see what we can add on the defense.
But guys, the Browns are 10-4. And they're going to beat the Jets and be AT LEAST an 11 win football team. How can you be unbiased, look at the big picture, and think that Baker Mayfield should not be the MVP? I cannot believe how wrong I was. If you would've told me before the season started that Baker was going to lead the Browns to an 11-5 record and the playoffs, I would've put my life's savings on the fact that he was going to win MVP. He completely turned around the trajectory of the organization. This is officially a no-brainer.
Yes, Josh Allen is playing very very well in Buffalo and he's a top 2 candidate as well. But the Bills have been to the playoffs in the past 200 years. What Baker has led the Browns to this year, from being the laughing stock of the world to soon to be an 11 win football team, is nothing short of remarkable. I would take Baker Mayfield over Josh Allen on my MVP ballot. And there are people saying they'd take him over Josh Allen on their team…..

WOW. HIGH PRAISE! And it's all because of the Kevin Stefanski / Baker Mayfield connection. This is what happens when we finally nail the hire and get a competent head coach. How funny was Freddie Kitchens last night calling the Giants plays? Buddy, take points when you can. Or do you want to fake another field goal? Go for it in the red zone again? I'm sorry Giants fans. He's terrible.
Anyways, the best part about winning with the Baker is winning with Baker. Post game interview Baker was on one again last night.
Sing it with me, Baker. DON'T GO CHASING WATERFALLLLLLLLLS! Keep doing you, #6. See you next week for #11.
