Arizona Just Had Possibly the Worst Opening Minute in the History of College Football

Can someone who has watched a lot of football tell me if being down 14-0 less than a minute into your biggest game of the season is good? Because Arizona had such an atrocious start tonight, I'm honestly confused as to whether or not they're trying to let Arizona State blow them out.

The Sun Devils took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown, which is obviously unideal, but it happens. It is what it is. Go out there and get the score back.

But then Arizona got the ball at its own 6-yard line following a penalty, fumbled two plays later and let ASU walk in for another touchdown. And it was 14-0 before fans could have gotten to their seats, if that was still a thing that happened.

Maybe somebody can come up with something worse, but that set of circumstances happening within the first minute of an in-state rivalry has to be up there for the worst start to a game in college football history. Not a great look for Kevin Sumlin and Co.

The good news is they only have to play 59 more minutes after embarrassing themselves on national television. Always look on the bright side.
