In Case You Missed It, (We All Did Because It Was The 4th Of July), Avi Garcia Might Have Made The Catch Of The Year Yesterday
Unreal play to save Robertson’s ass, a great start by Shark, and of course a W. That’s four wins in a row for the White Sox. They’re starting to do that thing again where they rattle off 4-5 wins in a row, play exciting, fundamental baseball, and get all of Sox fans hopes up that they’re going to sneak back into this thing. With Rodon on the mound today and Sale tomorrow, you have to like the Sox chances of this streak hitting at least 6.
Few other quick notes
* In his last 5 starts, Shark has gone at least 7 in each, with 6 quality starts and a 3.08 ERA while only surrendering one home run. Very refreshing change from the Shark we saw in April and May where it was bombs away off him. I will touch on this later, but he’s playing himself into nice trade value
* Jose Abreu is riding a nice little 6 game hitting streak. His slash line is good on the season, all things considered, but he was expected to become a premier power bat in baseball this year, and he hasn’t quite done that. He caught fire about the same time last year and completely dominated the second half of the season, so we may be starting to see some of the same right now
* Chris Sale vs. Mark Buerhle tomorrow. The two best pitchers in franchise history going head to head with Sale trying to break Pedro’s record of consecutive games with 10+ strike outs. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Chris Sale is must watch TV for a baseball fan. How utterly stupid he makes hitters look is incredibly fun to watch. Sale vs. Buerhle, two pitchers who attack hitters in completely different ways will be a spectacle for any baseball fan.
