Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - July 3
Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
Another night, another dud round of picks. Still shaking that vacation rust off I guess. Managed to cash a tiny bit in my tourney –
(probably my favorite part of DraftKings, these little trophy presentations. Doesn’t matter how much money it’s for, could be $3, still makes you feel special)
But the Donaldson streak is officially dead, Edwin disappointed (not his fault they wouldn’t freaking pitch to the guy), and Ahmed didn’t give us any value for being a value play. I knew the Jays game was the one to target…unfortunately I should have been on the other side.
Now on to tonight…
PITCHER
Like I said I’m not officially endorsing a pitcher for a little bit until I can get a better feel for it. Some guys I like –
-Michael Wacha is a popular play with the experts (the actual experts, not the ones who moonlight as one on a smut blog)
-Jesse Chavez – good value play
-Ubaldo has been liiighhtttsss outtt lately and gets a juicy matchup…can you trust Ubaldo?
-Clayton Kershaw against the Mets…LOL
Wait a minute, you know what? Maybe I’ll stack the Mets for this game tonight. That’s how sick I am. Just take the top 5-6 of the Mets lineup and put them all in. I mean combine all the factors. The best pitcher in the world. The worst hitting team ever assembled. The lowest team total I’ve ever seen. A team where it’s a borderline miracle and Twitter explodes if they score 1 run in a game. The matchup is SO perfect and SUCH a lock that it’s almost TOO perfect and TOO much of a lock. Plus you know how many people would have that stack? None. Just me. All my guys would be 0.00000001% owned. Oh yeah baby, I can smell the money already.
(No way I actually did that in anything higher than like a 25 cent tournament)
On to the hitters…
3B Manny Machado $4.8K
Last time I featured Machado here he went deep twice, so I’m hoping for lightning to strike twice. The O’s got shut out last night, but their offense is way too good for that to happen again, especially against the gas can known as John Danks. I think they’ll get back on track tonight with Manny leading the charge.
Also, Wieters is by far the top catching option of the night and I really wanted to feature him here, but he played last night, and anyone who follows the Os knows they have been alternating starts with him. So chances are he’s not in the lineup tonight, but if he is, I’m loading up.
OF David Peralta $4.2K
Kyle Kendrick stinks. Peralta has been hot hot hot. Lefty-righty matchup in the game with the highest total of the night – sometimes it’s just simple math. Gimme Peralta. Goldy is of course always an awesome play, but at 6K it’s just not possible to squeeze him in a lot of the time.
OF Alejandro De Aza $4.1K
Unless you’re a Red Sox fan here’s a guy who has probably been way off your radar – De Aza just quietly mashing and raking up in Boston since he got traded there. I don’t like chasing points and he’s not a good enough player to keep it going forever, but the fact is the Sox are starting to heat up and De Aza has been right there putting up the points every night. Not exactly a scary matchup against Straily tonight so I’m gonna hop on board the train and hope it still goes full speed ahead tonight.
VALUE PLAY C Josh Phegley $3.1K
Like I said, Wieters is the top catcher play, but he’ll most likely be out of the lineup. And have you checked out the rest of the options? Garbage. Phegley is coming in super cheap at an impossible position, hitting in the 5 hole and facing a lefty for only 3.1K. The true definition of a value play.
…
Good luck out there tonight, hit me up @kmarkobarstool with your tips/picks of the night.
