I Hope Everyone Is Excited For The Indiana vs. Northwestern Big Ten Championship Game
So this is what we're sticking with then, huh Big Ten? You gave absolutely zero wiggle room for teams to reschedule any canceled games because you sat around on your asses too long, and then you decided upon an arbitrary number of playing in at least 6 games to be eligible for the Big Ten Championship game. AND you made a mandatory 21 day quarantine. Great foresight there. Things seem to be working out real well for you. Because the fact of the matter is that the criteria for playing in the Big Ten Championship game is now no longer to be the best team in the East or West divisions, it's simply to play the most games. Wisconsin has already been eliminated because they're had 3 games canceled, and Ohio State......the only team worth a damn in the entire conference.....and your only chance to be represented in the College Football Playoff......is now on the verge of being eliminated too. WITHOUT HAVING A LOSS.
The decision makers of the Big Ten have failed the conference. The Buckeyes are 4-0. We have 2 games left on the schedule, and I would say neither seem extremely likely to happen. The Buckeyes are dealing with major covid concerns in their own program and the Michigan State game on Saturday is in huge doubt, and even if we can find a way to play, Michigan seems ripe to ruin our season the only way they can these days.
Classic Michigan. If you can't beat em, cancel on them and keep them out of the Big Ten Championship game.
So where's that leave us, Big Ten? It appears Northwestern has basically clinched the berth from the West, seeing as they have hit the #1 most important criteria of playing 6 games already. And they already beat 2nd place Iowa. Okay, so Northwestern is IN. Against who, you might ask? The big bad Hoosiers of Indiana.
Good Teams Indiana Has Beaten:
Teams That Have Beaten Indiana: Ohio State
Oh, and Indiana's quarterback is now out for the season.
But at the end of the day, it doesn't come down to any of that. The Big Ten doesn't care about talent or representing the conference or being the best team or having your best players available. The Big Ten is concerned about one thing and one thing only: PLAYING SIX GAMES.
But don't you like money, Big Ten? Wouldn't you want to allow a 5-0 Ohio State team to whoop on Northwestern so you can get a piece of that College Football Playoff pie? I would think they'd want to change that dumb rule in a heartbeat. But as we've learned from the Big Ten leadership this year, they'd rather never admit they're wrong than be right. So now the Buckeyes need to force their way to play Michigan State this week and hope that Michigan doesn't realize that they could ruin our season instead of taking a 50 point beating in two weeks. OR 12 out of 14 Big Ten games need to be canceled over the next two weeks to allow the game minimum to fall down to 5. I mean, what are we doing here folks? The decision makers of the Big Ten have failed their conference. Enjoy Northwestern vs Indiana, Kevin Warren. No one else will.
