Why Did Jim Schwartz Go Out Of His Way To Piss Off DK Metcalf Prior To Last Night's Game?

I couldn't understand this move less if I tried. What an unfathomably bone-headed decision by Jim Schwartz. The worst complimenter in the game today. And listen, it's not like he's wrong. DK Metcalf isn't Megatron. No one was even arguing that. I don't remember DK Metcalf parading around claiming himself to be the new Megatron. If that was some big storyline heading into this game I would understand this a whole lot more. But nope. It's like when you're having an argument with someone and they bring up something completely unrelated and it pisses you off even more. Schwartz was just sitting on this one all week,, breaking down film coming into this game and said, to himself, "Well this guy clearly isn't Megatron. I'll make sure I grab him Sunday and inform him of such. Surely, Darius Slay will have no problems with this so I'm not even gonna run it by him first."

Naturally DK took this new tidbit of information in stride. And by stride I mean 10 receptions on 13 targets for a brisk 177 yards, propelling him over the 1,000 yard mark for the season and handing him the league lead in receiving yards. I wouldn't even say that Slay played all that poorly. Like what would you like him to do differently on this first throw?

He was guarding a man possessed, completely overtaken by his hatred for the Philadelphia Eagles. Any normal day this is an incompletion. On this day? A day when Jim Schwartz spoke to him for some unknown reason prior to the game? Slay might should be All Pro for keeping DK out of the end zone and under 200 yards.
