Urban Meyer's Wife Eyeing Real Estate In Austin? Urban Meyer To Texas?

Charlie Strong was supposed to be the savior. He only lasted 3 years after going 16-21.

Tom Herman was supposed to be the savior. He's in year 4, but this year has yet again been a disappointment. After a loss to Iowa State at home, Texas is essentially eliminated from winning the Big 12 this year, making it 11 years since Texas has won the Big 12.

Tom Herman said today that Texas AD Chris Del Conte has expressed full confidence in him:

When you're talking about how you think your AD has full confidence in you, it's usualllyyyyy not a good sign. I'm sure the current recruits for Texas would love a phone call from Del Conte, a guy they probably don't know exists.

In other news, there was a report today that Urban Meyer's wife is "looking for real estate in Austin."

Urban Meyer's wife, Shelley, recently visited Austin to assess the real estate situation, Austonia has learned.

This may excite Texas fans, but let's not forget 2013, where this exact same situation happened.

This is all very Texas, especially this exact storyline happening 7 years ago. In perspective to their potentially open coaching spot, it's Urban Meyer or bust. We aren't at the point where Texas is Nebraska, but how far away are we from that? 10 years? The last time Nebraska was any good was 2001. That's only 8 years earlier from 2009, the last time Texas appeared in a national championship. That 8-year difference is one or two bad more hires. Could Urban Meyer be a bad hire? Sure, but the shot that he takes them back to where they want to be is better than say a Luke Fickell (not that Fickell would be the wrong way to turn if Meyer says no).

For Urban, Texas is his best option to return to college football. He has all the money in the world in Austin and can recruit anyone he wants. If he builds a program at Texas similar to one he built at OSU/Florida, he would have 4+ national championships. That's right there with Nick Saban, who has won national championships at 2 programs.
